A project that began as my attempt to explain to my daughters the importance of my work as a criminal defense attorney and to capture the experience of being their mother, is now available. Because I wrote the book late at night, during a health scare, it really is an uncensored accounting. The challenges I face in my job –gaining admittance to maximum security prisons, tracking down witnesses or navigating the criminal courts –might not be shared by many women. But the constant attempt to meet all trains, the urge to be two places at once, that feeling that despite your best efforts you have somehow managed to displease all the people all of the time –those are very common. Anybody can relate to these stories and hopefully find them both enlightening and funny.
